WARMING HOUSES TO OPEN DECEMBER 20 - 11/21/2001

Warming Houses at the 13 staffed warming houses operated by the City of Burnsville will open on Thursday, December 20, 2001 at 4:00 p.m., weather permitting. All sites have lighted outdoor hockey and pleasure skating rinks. The warming houses will be open Monday through Friday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 am to 9:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. During winter break and others school vacation days, hours may be extended. Warming houses are located at Civic Center, North River Hills, Red Oak, South River Hills, Timberland Knolls, Tennisioux, Terrace Oaks East, Highland Forest, Know Hill, Neill, Northview, Paha Sapa and Vista View. Additional sites have outdoor skating rinks without warming house facilities.

We are concerned about the safety of our park patrons, and for that reason, warming house facilities will close when the temperature and/or wind chill is -25° or colder. You can obtain the status of closings by calling the Recreation Hotline at 952-895-4510. If the weather conditions are questionable, it is suggested that you call to determine the status prior to leaving children at a warming house site.
