REPAIR OF NEW STREET CULVERT BEGUN

PATERSON – The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders awarded a contract of $380,669.00 to J.M Sanzari of Hackensack for the New Street, Woodland Park, repairs at the July 14 Freeholder meeting.

Birdsall Services Group of Cranford designed the culvert replacement and will oversee the inspection of the project as construction managers. They were awarded a contract for $95,115 for design and inspection.

Tree removal and the relocation of overhead utility lines of Public Service Electric and Gas, Verizon and Cablevison have begun.

The repair of the culvert requires the relocation of overhead utilities, support of underground fiber optics, evacuating and removing the failed culvert and replacing with a new culvert.

The new culvert is concrete and will replace the old culvert, which had a steel plate bottom that rusted.

The new culvert will be covered with backfill and new pavement and curbs will be installed. Guide rails and signs will be reset. The work is scheduled to be completed by September 28.
