CAREGIVER EVENT HIGHLIGHTS SERVICES AND INFORMATION

PATERSON – Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Passaic County Office of Senior Services, Disability and Veterans will recognize “National Caregivers’ Month” with a Caregiver’s Kick-off Event on Wednesday, October 28.

The free event will take place 5 to 7 p.m. at the Brownstone House, West Broadway, Paterson.

The event will highlight care giving programs and services including information and assistance in Medicare counseling, care management & caregivers' in-home support.

Caregivers will have an opportunity to gather information about Veterans' benefits, disability supports, adult day care programs, nutrition services and transportation.

A caregiver is anyone who provides basic assistance and care for someone who is frail, disabled or ill and needs help.  Caregivers perform a wide variety of tasks to assist someone else in his or her daily life.

Caregivers will have an opportunity to gather information, meet the staff and discuss the available caregiver's options in Passaic County.

“Caregivers may be full or part-time, live with a loved one, or provide care from a distance,” said Freeholder Director Tahesha Way.

“For the most part, friends, neighbors, and most of all, families, provide care for loved ones over months or years and we want to make sure they are familiar with all the services and programs that are provided in Passaic County.”

The event is open to caregivers throughout Passaic County. Registration is requested at 973-569-4064 or by e-mail to christineb@passaiccountynj.org.
