Somerset County Towns to Share

in State Aid for Road Projects

Twenty municipal road projects in Somerset County will benefit from state aid from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT).

The Somerset County projects total $3.935 million of the approximately $104 million awarded by the NJDOT to communities statewide. The funding comes from the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund.

“This is very welcome aid to our municipalities, especially in these difficult economic times,” said Freeholder Peter S. Palmer, a member of the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, which makes recommendations on the funding awards. “The money not only will provide necessary improvements to local roads but also will create much-needed construction jobs.”

The projects and amounts for Somerset County’s municipalities include:

Bedminster – Black River Road South, $220,000

Bernards – Whitenack Road, $200,000

Bernardsville – Mullens Lane, $215,000

Bound Brook – Church Street, $200,000

Branchburg – County Line Road, $200,000

Bridgewater – Brown Road, $150,000

Franklin – Martino Drive, $220,000

Green Brook – Highland Street, Village Trail and Webster Avenue, $200,000

Hillsborough – Dukes Parkway West, $200,000

Manville – 13^th Avenue, $225,000

Millstone – Yorktown Road, $65,000

Montgomery - Cherry Valley Road, $215,000

North Plainfield – Malcolm Avenue, Manning Avenue and Chatham Place, $275,000

Peapack-Gladstone – Pottersville Road sidewalks, $100,000

Raritan – Johnson Drive, $200,000

Rocky Hill – Montgomery Avenue, $125,000

Somerville – Grove Street, $235,000

South Bound Brook – Howard Avenue, $225,000

Warren – Dock Watch Hollow Road, $215,000

Watchung – Ridge Road, $250,000
