It consists of two main elements: study on existing bicycle facilities, usage, and demand; and recommendations of opportunities to improve or build new facilities to meet demand or to promote increased bicycle usage. The input and active involvement of the public is central to both collecting useful data and making relevant recommendations.</SPAN></P>\n");

More and more parents are driving their kids to school because of perceptions that the route is less safe than it could be. Increased traffic density and speeds can intimidate adult bicyclists as well. In cooperation with schoolteachers in Menlo Park, students and city staff will begin to assess travel patterns of schoolchildren and their families to provide a rich source of data on one of the main reasons people travel through the city. This will help identify where bicycle facilities would be of most use.</P>\n");
