Extends Hours for Absentee Ballot Voters


SOMERVILLE - The Somerset County Clerk’s Office is extending its hours to accommodate voters who will be unable to go to the polls on Election Day, Nov. 2.  


Absentee ballot applications can be picked up at the County Clerk’s Office, located in the lobby of the county Administration Building at 20 Grove St.  Residents can also obtain an application by visiting the county’s web site at: or by contacting the County Clerk’s Office at (908) 231-7013 or


“In this presidential election year, when voter turnout is expected to be high, I am pleased to be able to offer Somerset County residents the convenience of extended hours,” said Somerset County Clerk Brett A. Radi.


The County Clerk’s Office will remain open until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20 and Oct. 27.  In addition, the County Clerk’s Office will be open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30.


If submitted by mail, the County Clerk’s Office must receive completed applications no later than
Oct. 26
(7 days prior to the election).  This will allow time for the ballot to be mailed back to the applicant.


 Voters, or authorized messengers for voters who are sick or confined, may visit the County Clerk’s Office during office hours up until 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, to fill out an application and receive an absentee ballot. 


The last day to register to vote with the Board of Elections is Monday, Oct. 4.  Completed absentee ballots can be mailed to the Election Board, PO Box 3000, Somerville NJ 08876.  Ballots can also be dropped off at the Board of Elections, located next to the County Clerk’s Office in the county Administration Building.  Absentee ballots can be returned until the polls close at 8 p.m. on election night, Nov. 2.


In the last Presidential election, the County Clerk’s Office issued 7,759 absentee ballots.  It expects to process over 10,000 absentee ballot applications this year.
